Maintenance Manager

Summary: Manages the maintenance team to support a multiple shift, multiple plant production environment. Schedules, trains, and directs the maintenance team and vendors to perform all necessary repairs and maintenance procedures to maintain production. Process paperwork and data related to department functions.

Pay Rate: $27-$30/hr
Hours: 6:30 to 3:30 but one person carries the on-call phone a week at a time. Can get called from time to time on 2nd and 3rd shifts
Days: Monday-Friday
 
Job Description:
· Schedules maintenance procedures to fit into production schedule.
· Safety skills; must understand, follow and be a model for safe work as defined by company policy.
· Enforce all company safety and operational policies.
· Interfaces with suppliers to keep parts and services on schedule
· Keeps track of all maintenance procedures and machinery logs
· Works with other staff to select the correct suppliers and products to match the maintenance requirements.
· Report the status of the maintenance and repair procedures to the production team and plant manager.
· Monitor and maintain records of the inventory and supplies.
· Maintain equipment maintenance logs.
· Directs new equipment installation. This includes rigging, leveling and interconnect wiring of the equipment
· Performs other duties as assigned



Requirements: 
Responsibilities and Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience: Required to be a high school graduate with 4 years of experience in maintenance in a manufacturing setting. Experience in equipment manufacturing and or automotive fields will also be considered. Must have previous leadership experience in a teamwork setting
Language Skills: Must be able to read, write and speak English in a clear manner, understandable by all customers and vendors.


Technical Skills
Must be experienced in all these skills
· Mechanical skills; Must be able to troubleshoot and perform mechanical repairs to equipment including removing and replacing motors, gearboxes, bearings, and other mechanical components.
· Computer skills; Must be able to track maintenance schedules and parts inventories in a completely computerized system.
· Management skills; Must be able to work independently without daily supervision. Able to take charge of large work teams to complete complex tasks.
· Training skills; Must be able to coach and train employees in the proper procedures and policies for equipment operation and repairs
· Driving motor vehicles from plant to plant is a requirement. Must have a legal operator’s license. Must be insurable to operate company vehicles.
· Product Knowledge; Must have a basic understanding of manufacturing equipment including sort line equipment and balers. Must be able to direct repairs to mobile equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, trailers and semi tractors.
· Electrical Knowledge; Must have a working understanding of line voltages up to 480 volts. Able to read and interpret equipment schematics. Able to perform basic electric troubleshooting and minor repairs.
· Hydraulic and Pneumatic Knowledge; Must have a working understanding of cylinders and valves. Able to read and interpret equipment schematics. Able to perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs.
· Mobile equipment operation. Able to obtain and maintain an operator’s license for all mobile equipment


Reasoning Ability:
Must be able to demonstrate good judgement in dealing with internal and external personnel. Must be able to understand the needs of maintenance and production teams to coordinate work schedules. Must be able to understand the need for and promote the process and documentation of all procedures. Must be able to coach and train personnel in complex tasks.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to work in a hot summer and cold winter shop environment. Must be able to do a physically demanding job including heavy lifting, climbing ladders and working at / on elevated platforms.

The person must be able to get along and work with others from diverse cultural backgrounds. The person should be a positive example and assist others in maintaining good company morale.
